Why operators switch

Six places a sports centre quietly loses money

Every one of these is a default behaviour of the system, not a report you have to remember to run.

Courts played off the books

Lighting is tied to a registered session over MQTT. A court cannot be lit without a session on the system, so the informal hour after closing stops being free.

Rates keyed by hand

The pricing engine resolves the rate from hour, day, public holiday, facility type and membership tier, with a documented priority when rules overlap. Staff never type a price.

Voids nobody reviews

Every void, refund and edit is recorded against the operator who did it, with manager approval gates on high-value voids and an alert to the owner.

No-shows that block a court

Bookings expire automatically when stale, no-show history is tracked per member, and deposits can be required up front on the slots that matter.

Stock that walks

Pro-shop and cafe stock moves the moment it is added to a bill, with movement history for purchases, sales, adjustments and write-offs, and a closing balance you can audit.

A second branch, a second spreadsheet

Branches roll up on one dashboard and drill down individually. Settings inherit from the organisation, so venue number two starts configured rather than blank.

Four people run a sports centre. It is built for all four.

Each role sees the screens it needs and nothing it does not, enforced by role-based access rather than by convention.

Owner

Revenue across every branch, staff performance, stock, and a locked audit trail on all of it. Printable on the same 80mm roll at the end of any shift.

Manager

The shift, the roster, the booking calendar, the pricing schedule and the member broadcast. Approvals for anything a counter operator cannot do alone.

Counter operator

One tap to open a court. Any tender, any printer, lights follow the session. Food and pro-shop items land on the same bill.

League organiser

Seed a bracket, assign courts, run the rounds and record scores live, with entry fees settled at the same till as everything else.

One screen for the whole floor

Courts, members, stock and money live in the same system, so the counter never reconciles two apps by hand at closing time.

Live floor status

Every court, pitch, table and lane on one board with colour-coded status. Start a session in one tap, move a player to another court mid-game, and let the lighting follow the booking instead of a wall switch. Sessions bill count-up by the minute or count-down from a prepaid block, with rates that change by hour, day, public holiday, facility type and membership tier.

Booking that holds up

Visual calendar, drag-select slots, deposits, check-in, auto-expiry and no-show tracking. Members book themselves from the portal.

Members and credits

Stored credits, prepaid packages, reward points and stamp cards. Credits deduct oldest first and expire on schedule, under a row lock so a double tap cannot spend the same balance twice.

One bill at the end

Court time, cafe orders, pro-shop stock, function rooms, lockers, parking and tournament entry settle together. Split it across players, take part now and the rest later, and print to 80mm thermal.

Counter identification

QR code, RFID card or face recognition. The member card refreshes its code every sixty seconds, so a screenshot passed to a friend stops working.

  • Appearance settings applied per domain, so a chain can run several brands

No capability matches that search. Try a shorter word, for example "booking", "printer" or "credit".

The parts operators ask about first

Nine of the modules above, in the detail a venue manager actually needs before committing.

Pricing that knows the time of day

A badminton court at 9am on a Tuesday is not the same product as the same court at 8pm on a Saturday, and neither is a futsal pitch on Hari Raya. The engine resolves all of it before staff can key a price.

  • Hourly tiers, weekday against weekend, public holiday overrides and single-date rates
  • Per-facility-type and per-membership-tier pricing
  • Duration tiers for the first hour and subsequent hours
  • A documented priority order when several rules could apply
  • Recurring holidays and happy hour windows

A wallet that locks in lifetime spend

Members top up once and play down the balance, which is the single most reliable way to keep them coming back to your courts instead of the hall down the road.

  • Stored credits with bonus allocations on top-up packages
  • Oldest credits spent first, with configurable expiry and scheduled processing
  • Reward points earned per transaction and redeemed as a per-line discount
  • Loyalty stamp cards and a token system alongside credits
  • Self-service top-up from the app, the portal or over WhatsApp
  • Balances ring-fenced per organisation, so a chain does not leak value between branches

And the parts that quietly matter

Five more areas that decide whether a busy night runs itself or needs the manager on the floor.

Split the bill, not the friendship

Ten players on two courts, one of them paying for the drinks and two leaving early. The session handles it without the counter doing arithmetic on a notepad.

  • Per-player billing with items allocated to the player who ordered them
  • Add or remove players mid-session
  • Equal split, or per-player with a discount distributed across the group
  • Multiple named rounds, each with its own closing remark
  • Checkpoint rounding so the parts always foot to the whole
  • A separate invoice per player where one is needed for a company claim

Lighting that cannot be left on, or bypassed

Court lights are wired to the session over MQTT. That saves power, and it also removes the quiet hour that never made it onto a bill.

  • Lights on when a session starts, off on a schedule tied to the session end
  • Per-facility and per-zone control, with brightness
  • Relay management with several relays per device
  • Heartbeat monitoring, commissioning, channel testing and device replacement
  • Test every facility at once before opening

Rentals: lockers, rooms and parking on the same system

Most sports centres rent more than court time. Rentals sit on the same floor view and settle on the same receipt, deposits included.

  • Lockers, function rooms, private units and parking bays
  • Deposit collection and refund on exit, with several deposit types
  • Automatic late fee calculation, and a void when you decide to waive it
  • Extensions, auto-expiry reminders with a live countdown
  • A combined Official Receipt covering fee and deposits in one payment
  • Visual floor plan management for the physical spaces

Turn quiet hours into league nights

Tuesday afternoon is the hardest slot in any sports centre to fill. Tournaments and social games exist to fill it with people who bring friends.

  • Tournaments created by staff or by members themselves
  • Skill-level matching across beginner, intermediate and advanced
  • Bracket generation, court assignment and live scoring through to the winner
  • Entry fees settled at the same till as everything else
  • A chat room created automatically with every social game
  • Broadcast to members across the network so a half-empty draw fills itself

Recognise a member in half a second

At 7pm on a weeknight the queue is the bottleneck, not the courts. Identification is a tap or a glance rather than a name spelled out twice.

  • Face recognition lookup with per-member settings
  • RFID card tap for lookup, activation and automatic checkout
  • Encrypted member QR that refreshes its code every sixty seconds
  • Card registration, balance lookup and deactivation
  • Time billing mode where a card tap starts the clock and applies member rates

Members, money and the wall display

Booking that survives a busy Saturday

The calendar enforces the rules rather than trusting whoever is on the counter, including the awkward ones like a slot that runs past midnight.

  • Slot lengths configurable in five-minute increments
  • Day-specific availability: default, weekday, weekend or one individual day
  • Available and unavailable ranges, including across midnight
  • Overlap detection that makes a double-booking impossible
  • Deposits, one-click check-in and a proforma with the full rate breakdown
  • Auto-expiry of stale bookings and no-show history per member

A real cafe operation, and a QR that orders from the court

Food is not an afterthought bolted onto a court system. It is a full service flow with its own kitchen routing, and players can order from the court without queuing.

  • Menu categories, items, options, preferences and paid add-ons
  • Order status through pending, ready and served
  • Kitchen and bar tickets routed to separate printers by category
  • Players scan a table QR and order from their own phone, no app install
  • Dynamic per-table tokens that expire, or a permanent static QR
  • Guest ordering with no login, and food settled on the same bill as court time

Built for Malaysian compliance, not retrofitted onto it

LHDN e-invoicing and SST are part of the billing engine, so a validated invoice locks itself and an edit leaves a trail instead of a hole.

  • MyInvois submission with UBL documents and digital signatures
  • Validated invoices auto-locked against silent edits
  • SST applied per revenue stream, courts separate from food
  • Service charge configurable per product type
  • Status tracking, batch checks and cancellation in the app
  • Buyer TIN and BRN capture, with BRN validation
  • 45 item classifications and ten ASEAN buyer countries preloaded
  • Invoice-level against line-level discount mapping
  • Every void, refund and edit recorded with the operator who did it
  • Manager approval gates on high-value voids, with an owner alert

Getting live

From empty database to first paid session

A setup wizard walks a new venue through it. Most single-venue clubs open on the system within days, not months.

  1. Create the venue

Organisation, venue, operating hours, currency, tax label and time zone. A second branch inherits all of it.

  2. Lay out the floor

Courts, pitches, tables and rooms, grouped into zones with their own colours and card themes, positioned to match the real hall.

  3. Set the rates

Peak and off-peak, weekday and weekend, public holidays, per facility type and per membership tier.

  4. Load menu and stock

Categories, items, options and add-ons for the cafe and pro shop, with opening stock and suppliers.

  5. Add the team

Employees, roles and per-venue access, so a counter operator cannot reach the owner's reports.

  6. Open the first session

Printer paired, lights commissioned, e-invoice credentials connected. Take a real booking and settle it.

It talks to the hardware you already own

Nothing here is proprietary. If your printer speaks ESC/POS and your relay speaks MQTT, it works.

Receipt printers

80mm and 58mm thermal over ESC/POS, with a desktop connector, a print queue and automatic retry. Mixed fleets are fine.

Kitchen and bar printers

Tickets routed per category, so hot food, drinks and pro-shop items print where they are made.

Lighting relays

MQTT relay boards, many channels per device, with heartbeat monitoring, channel testing and device replacement.

RFID readers

Card tap for member lookup, session start and automatic checkout, with cards bound to specific facilities.

Cameras

Any webcam for dashboard QR scanning and face recognition lookup, with a mirror toggle for counter orientation.

Payment terminals

Card terminals, DuitNow QR, e-wallet QR and payment links sent by WhatsApp or email.

Wall displays

A customer-facing live court monitor on any screen with a browser, showing availability in real time.

Tablets and phones

The counter runs in a browser. Staff can work the floor from a tablet, members from their own phone.

What operators say it changes

The measurable outcomes vary by venue and by how much of the system a club actually switches on. What is consistent is that the reports stop disagreeing with the drawer.

Revenue jumped in the first quarter, the member base grew, and the lighting alone pays for part of the subscription. The reports finally match the drawer.

Venue owner, multi-court sports centre, Kuala Lumpur

How a shift actually runs

The counter workflow is three moves, and the system does the arithmetic.

Open the court

Scan the member, tap their card or pick a walk-in, choose the facility, and the clock starts. The rate resolves from the schedule, the member tier and any live promotion, so staff never key a price. Lights come on with the session.

Serve during play

Drinks, food and pro-shop items go onto the same open tab and route to the right printer by category. Players can order from their own phones by scanning the table QR.

Settle and close

One bill, any tender: cash, card terminal, DuitNow QR, stored credits, reward points or a payment link sent by WhatsApp. Split it across players if the group wants that.

Close the shift

The court frees itself, stock moves, the e-invoice submits, and the shift report reconciles the drawer on the same 80mm roll.

Read the whole group from one dashboard

Branches roll up together and drill down individually, so a second venue does not mean a second spreadsheet. Revenue per branch, per staff member and per revenue stream, printable on the same 80mm roll at the end of every shift.

Revenue by stream, one branch
Court and facility time 62.4%
Food and beverage 21.8%
Membership and packages 11.3%
Pro shop and rental 4.5%

Illustrative shape, not a customer's figures. Your own report is built from live sessions and settled invoices.

Questions operators ask first

Which sports and facilities does JomSport run?
Badminton and pickleball courts, futsal and football pitches, basketball and volleyball courts, gym and fitness floors, table tennis, and cue sports such as snooker and pool. It also runs dining tables, function rooms, lockers and parking bays. A venue can mix them: one club can bill courts by the hour, sell gym passes, rent lockers and run a cafe and a pro shop on the same till.
How does court billing work?
Two modes on the same floor. Count-up starts a clock when the court opens and bills the time actually played. Count-down sells a fixed block, from thirty minutes to ten hours, with a grace period and an automatic end. Rates change by hour, day, public holiday, facility type and membership tier, and a smart priority system decides which rule wins when several could apply. Both modes settle on the same bill as any food, drinks or pro-shop items.
Can members book courts in advance?
Yes. Bookings run on a visual calendar with slot lengths configurable in five-minute increments, day-specific rules, minimum and maximum advance windows, cross-midnight ranges, overlap detection, deposits, one-click check-in, auto-expiry and no-show history per member. Members can book themselves from the portal or the app, and staff can drag-select slots at the counter.
Is JomSport compliant with Malaysian e-invoicing?
Yes. LHDN MyInvois is built into the billing engine: UBL documents, digital signatures, submission, status tracking, batch status checks and cancellation, with validated invoices automatically locked against edits. SST is handled per revenue stream, service charge is configurable per product type, and every void, refund and edit leaves an audit record behind an approval gate.
Does it handle more than one branch?
Yes. Branches sit in a three-tier hierarchy of client, organisation and venue, so an owner sees every venue rolled up on one dashboard and can drill into any single branch to compare revenue, staff performance and stock. Settings inherit downward, so a new branch starts configured instead of blank, and each venue can carry its own vanity URL, logo, operating hours and subscription.
What do members get?
A self-service portal and a native app in English, Bahasa Melayu and Chinese: a digital membership card, stored credits and reward points, credit packages with oldest-credits-first deduction and auto-expiry, court booking, food ordering, coupon claiming, live view of the session in progress, self-checkout and full transaction history. At the counter they are identified by QR, RFID card or face recognition.
Can we keep our existing printers and payment terminals?
In most cases yes. JomSport prints to 80mm and 58mm thermal printers over ESC/POS, supports Google Cloud Print and a desktop print-queue connector, and routes kitchen and bar tickets to separate printers by category. It accepts cash, card terminals, DuitNow QR, e-wallet QR, stored credits, reward points and payment links sent by WhatsApp or email.
Does it control court lighting?
Yes, over MQTT. Lights switch on when a session starts and off when it ends, on a schedule tied to the session end time, with per-facility and per-zone control, brightness, relay management, heartbeat monitoring and device commissioning. Because a court cannot be lit without a registered session, it also closes off-the-books play.
How many features are there, and can I see the list?
Every capability is listed on this page under "Every module, itemised", grouped into pillars and searchable, rather than summarised as a headline number. The list is the specification. It is the same engine that runs 500+ venues across 23 countries.
How long does setup take?
A single-venue club is normally live within days: facilities and rates configured, staff roles set, menu and stock loaded, and counter staff trained. A setup wizard walks a new venue through onboarding step by step. Multi-branch rollouts are staged branch by branch. Setup and staff training are included.
What currencies, languages and time zones are supported?
150+ ISO 4217 currencies with per-currency rounding rules including Malaysian five-sen rounding, configurable symbol, decimals and thousands separator; 200+ countries in the phone picker; 27+ time zones; and three interface languages, English, Chinese and Malay.
How is our data protected?
Role-based access control across seven user types, ownership validation that blocks cross-venue and cross-organisation access, protection on every POST request, secure session cookies with regeneration on login, login rate limiting, modern password hashing, Content Security Policy headers, validated file uploads, soft delete with recovery on every entity, and system activity logs you can filter.
